  1. Visual Studio 10 and Microsoft ReportViewer 2010 Redistributable (10.0.30319). I think I found the version, actually there are three versions of ReportViewer Controls in the Assembly by the name of Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, which are (9.0.0.0, 8.0.0.0, and 10.0.0.0).

I have writen a site using VS2010 and all was working well until I create some reports.
I then got the below error message when I moved the site to my production server.
Configuration Error

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I looked this up on a few websites and a few people suggested chageing the 10.0.0.0 to 9.0.0.0 in the web.config file. This does allow the site to be loaded, but the reports page still does not work.
I would much prefer to just get version 10.0.0.0 to work on my production server.
Does any one know wher I can get this version from?

This works on my dev box, it works on my development IIS server. We set up a NEW Windows server for deployment and Report Viewer seemingly CANNOT be made to work.

My Server Environment:

  • Visual Studio is NOT installed on the server. It's a server.
  • All the non-report pages (including authentication and other database stuff) seem to be working fine.

We are using Visual Studio 2013 doing an MVC website.

The report viewer works like crazy here in the office but gives this error instead of reports on the production server.

C:Windowsassembly has:

  • Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common 8.0.0.0, 10.0.0.0, 12.0.0.0
  • Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebDesign 12.0.0.0

I have tried numerous online posts, all of which have not helped. Yes, I tried rebooting after.

The .rdlc files were not originally publishing, so I changed their setting from 'Embedded' to 'Content', which resulted in the files making it to the build.

At this point I am at wits-end.
